Paradise Found at Plitvice

Plitvitce National Park along with Krka National Park were two of the best full days hiking and exploring we did during our almost two month stay in croatia.

Hot Take: While many visitors to Croatia spend their vacation time visiting the islands and seeing Dubrovnik, we found that the true gem of Croatia was more inland at the gorgeous and well maintained National Parks. (5.0 stars)

Pro Tip: If you plan on visiting Plitvice National Park make sure to check the opening time ahead of time. For the most enjoyable experience you’ll want to arrive as soon as the park opens to avoid the hoards of people that arrive mid morning on through the afternoon. While you can’t swim in the waters of Plitvice you can at Krka.

During our time in Croatia we learned that most visitors/vacationers to the country typically only visit the coast especially Dubrovnik. While we very much enjoyed our time inland hopping and seeing the sites along the coastline of Croatia the inland area should not go unnoticed especially Plitvice National Park. We visited Plitvice once during the summer and than later in the begging of the Fall when Kelly’s parents came to visit us. It’s fair to say that Plitvice stands out in our memory.
